close Looking for their first win at home in 2017, the Pimp and his C-men were headed to Bob Neil #1 to face the team which was famously sanctioned 5 years ago for its players smearing faeces on the umpires change room door. Not a great reason to get out of bed.

The dress up theme was ‘Bogan Day’ – West End bucket hats, Centrelink wife-beaters and a half-dozen speed dealer sunnies making heads turn as the players made their way from the city towards the oval. But coming up against a classy Central United outfit, one could have been mistaken for believing it was ‘Dress-like-your-opponents Day’. Given the entire United team rocked up in leather shoes, black slacks and polo shirts, they obviously thought the same thing.

A solid first quarter saw the C-men slightly in front, but things only went downhill from there. The 2nd and 3rd saw their aggression and attack on the footy have less teeth than the United supporters shouting barely legible profanities, and decision making worse than the teen parents in the Bulldog colours who obviously didn’t bother with protection one night. Needless to say, the United full forward towelled up the Blacks with 5 majors to lemons and United were well on top of the C-men.

In comes one of the great fairy tale finishes of the modern Uni era. After splitting the first two goals of the quarter between the teams, the C-men were down by 15 points with 15 minutes to go. Some serious marking power from Swoop up forward led to 2 goals and a Chooka special, contested snap around the corner put the boys in front with 5 minutes to go. Sam ‘Motorhead’ Lemm across the centre and half back showing his own contested marking ability to keep the last minute United onslaught at bay, with the boys finishing 3 point winners.

We can’t wait to travel there later in the year...
