News and goings on at the World's Greatest Football Club.
FINALS FEVER - 30/8
The Chardonnay Socialists and the C-Men are our only two teams still in the finals, whilst the Girl Guides have their final game of the year on Sunday at Bob Neil 1 this weekend.
We encourage EVERYONE to get along and support one or ideally both of the teams tomorrow. They are both really deserving of a big Blacks crowd as the C-Men do battle with 3 other A grade clubs in their campaign, whilst the Chardonnays are up against very strong C grade clubs. Both teams have shown they can mix it with the best in their competitions though, so it’s at this time of the year that the Bob Neil army can really have an impact from the sidelines. Get there in full voice, sing some songs and lets get our lads over the line to extend our season for at least another week. Unley (Kingswood Oval) at 10:15 and then Bob Neil # 1 at 2:15 is for the diary. And then the Havey at 7!

The weekend ahead
It’s fair to say that the Bob Neil army has a little spring in its step this week after a win for the ages by the Showgirls on Saturday. Down by 26 points early in the last quarter and staring at potential relegation, the Showgirls dug deep and pulled off a fantastic victory to assure us of Division 1 next year and keep us in the finals race this year. In fact, the optimists will say that we only need win 6 games in a row and we will become Div 1 premiers 2014! One down and five to go. And all of that was after the Scum 1,000 earlier in the morning (see http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/the-jerks-games-record-tops-tuck-and-hungry/ for the Almanac Write up).
Anyway, plenty more on all of that in Substandard (or already in the Blacks gallery and on Facebook) on Friday. Purpose of the quick update today is to enable you to get your diaries sorted for another big weekend of Blacks festivities.
- The Long Room will be open from around 4:30pm for those looking for a sneaky couple before heading to the Paar v Carton blockbuster at Bob Neil # 3.
- The A/B grade start their finals a week early with must win games against Ross & Trevor at Guy Sebastian Reserve.
- The C-men officially commence their finals campaign in a big Qualifying Final against Hout n About at Faraway Field.
- Whist at Bob Neil # 1, the Scum and Chardonnays have a massive Elimination Final double header at Bob Neil # 1, kicking off at 12:15. Bar, canteen, bbq etc will be in full force.
- Lets keep the momentum up from last weeks massive Hold your Bowlies as Tex and Sharls take to the stage for what could possibly be the last Bowlies for 2014 for a couple of the teams again.
- And finally on Sunday the Girl Guides play at Uni Oval from 2:00pm to round out a very big weekend of Blacks footy.
A Sensational comeback win from the Showgirls to keep the 2014 Finals race alive (Oh, & off course to rule out relegation)

So the bar will be cranking. And then the A/B grade will take on Red Light Districts on Friday the 1st of August in a match that is crucial for our finals (and rrrrrrr relegation) prospects. Sat night August 2 is then the Blacks Ball so its a busy little period at the AUFC
Round 14 Results
A depleted A grade team battled hard but couldn't get over Henley on Drugs, but the B grade had a thrilling come from behind victory inspired by Jumbo Davies in his 300th SAAFL game. The Scum also had an impressive win against Scotch on the Rocks and Chardonnays won on forfeit, but it was slim pickings after that with both the C-Men and Kevs going down to Henley at Opium Oval. Uni holidays really hitting the lower grades hard so we'll be much happier when they finish. More info in substandard later in the week
